Death that cannot be escaped

In Genesis, the 11th genealogy is written, including the history of Creation (2: 4). (5: 1, 6: 9, 10: 1, 11:10, 11:27, 25:12, 25:19, 36: 1, 36: 9, 37: 2). Although it is “tordot” in Hebrew, it is mainly translated as “history” in the new translation of the Bible. The Book of Genesis can use this to divide it into twelve. The author of Genesis, Moses, used the perfect number 12 in the Bible to classify Genesis (examples of number 12: 12 chieftains, 12 apostles, etc.). 5: 1-2 is a repetition of Genesis 1: 26-27 and 2: 7. From 5: 3 onwards, the 10th genealogy leading up to Noah is recorded.

From Adam to Noah

5 This is the written account of Adam’s family line. When God created mankind, he made them in the likeness of God. ²He created them male and female and blessed them. And he named them “Mankind” when they were created.³When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. ⁴After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. ⁵Altogether, Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died. ⁶When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. ⁷After he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. ⁸Altogether, Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died. ⁹When Enosh had lived 90 years, he became the father of Kenan. ¹⁰After he became the father of Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years and had other sons and daughters. ¹¹Altogether, Enosh lived a total of 905 years, and then he died. The genealogy of Jesus the Savior chose Seth, who was born in place of Abel, who was killed, instead of Cain (Luke 3:38). God has begun to prepare for the fulfillment of the Word he has spoken. “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”(Genesis 3:15)

Verse 3-6 are a repetition of 4: 25-26. All of the characters here have a terrifying longevity, but this longevity does not have to be considered a myth, as it is believed that Noah’s flood has created a completely different natural environment than it is today. It can be said that it is different to evaluate the lifespan at that time based on the lifespan of modern people. In the coming millennial kingdom, it will change to a natural environment where human can live as long as this time.

    an infant who lives but a few days,
    or an old man who does not live out his years;
the one who dies at a hundred
    will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach a hundred
    will be considered accursed.
²¹They will build houses and dwell in them;
    they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
²²No longer will they build houses and others live in them,
    or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,
    so will be the days of my people;
my chosen ones will long enjoy
    the work of their hands.

(Isaiah65:20-22)

However, the problem here is that no matter how long a person lives, he will surely die. “Thus he died,” says verses 5, 8, and 11. The development of medical care has made it possible for modern people to live longer, and it is now said that 100 years of life. I’m really grateful for that, but we have to remember that everyone will die. No one can escape death. You are dust, so you must return to it (Genesis 3:19).

That is why, just as sin entered the world by just one person, death by sin, and thus death spread to all mankind—because all mankind sinned. (Romans 5:12)

And just as humans are determined to die once and to be judged after death (Hebrews 9:27).

But we have hope in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ, eternal life is given. It is for grace to rule by the gift of righteousness by our Lord Jesus Christ and to have eternal life, just as sin ruled by death. (Romans 5:21)
