The power of words

 Wickedness in the World

6 When human beings began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with humans forever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. (Genesis 6: 1-8)

The question here is who are the “the sons of God.” There are various theories in this passage, but the following two are typical.

The theory is that the sons of God are the descendants of Seth, and the daughters of man are the descendants of Cain. The question is, is it really possible for such a marriage to give birth to a giant (superhuman) named Nephilim?

Another theory is that the sons of God are fallen angels, or evil spirits (the etymology of the Nephilim means “fall”), and the daughters of man are all human women. The word that God said to the devil, “The head is crushed by the girl grandchild,” can be thought of as the devil trying to destroy the human form and prevent the birth of the girl grandson. Adam lived for 130 years and gave birth to a child in his shape, similar to him(Genesis 5: 3). This was the will of God. But here is the birth of the non-human Nephilim (which can also be translated as a giant, or a superhuman who is a child of God and man). However, the question remains whether a fallen angel can really associate with humans.

I will not draw any conclusions here. However, I think we can read from this point that a giant (superhuman) was born for some reason and that human sins increased. And God decides to judge such human sins and evils.

The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time. The Lord regretted that he had made human beings on the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. So the Lord said, “I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created—and with them the animals, the birds and the creatures that move along the ground—for I regret that I have made them.”

How is it different from the time of heaven and earth creation. Bible says God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.   (Genesis 1:31). But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. (verse 8). So Noah and his family were able to enter the ark and escape the Flood Judgment.

Through this sin, the life span of human beings has increased from super longevity to about 120 years. After the flood, Abraham died at 175, Isaac at 180, Jacob at 147, Joseph at 110, and Moses at 120. It is believed that the flood, which is God’s judgment, has dramatically changed the natural environment.

This is the end of the third division of Genesis (5: 1-6: 8). That is, the genealogy of Adam. The first category is 1: 1-2: 3, and the second category is 2: 4-4: 46.

I used to be a pastor in the metropolitan area for 10 years, but now I am a pastor at a local Christian church. I also run a travel agency and a farm. I myself have been empowered by various words, and I would like to convey hopeful words.
