Creation ＆ a new heaven and a new earth

The power of words

6 God said. “The sky is in the middle of the water. There is a distinction between water.” 7 God made the sky and distinguished the water below the sky from the water above it. It became like that. 8 God named the sky heaven. There was evening and there was morning. Second day. 9 God said. “The water under the heavens is gathered in one place. A dry place appears.” 10 God named the dry place the earth, and the place where the water gathered the sea. God was happy to see it. 11 God said. “Let the earth sprout plants, that is, the grasses that give rise to seeds and the fruit trees that bear the seeds in them, on the earth according to the species.” 12 The lands gave birth to plants, seed-bearing grasses, according to species, and seed-bearing trees, according to species. God was happy to see it. 13 There was evening and there was morning. Third day. (Bible Genesis1:6-13)

The work of God on the first day of Creation was “separation of the darkness of light”, and the work of the second day was “separation of heaven and earth”. In Genesis 1: 2, it was “the earth is vague and nothing.” Light appeared there, and light and darkness, day and night were separated. Then, on the second day, water and water were separated, and the heavens were separated and established from the earth that had no shape at all.

It is written that “God made the sky” (verse 7), but “God created the heavens and the earth” in Genesis 1: 1 is the Hebrew word “barra” which means creation from nothing. Whereas it is used, this verse 7 uses “Arthur”, which is used when making other things from existing materials. I think that the reason why “lower water” is written first and “upper water” is written later in verse 7 is that this Genesis is drawn centered on the earth and human beings.

The work of God’s creation over six days is repeatedly written as it progresses, “God was good to see it” (1: 4, 10, 12, 12, 18, 21, 25). And when humans were finally created, they were praised as “it was very good” (verse 31). However, on this second day, water and water were separated, and the sky was named heaven, but it was not written as “good.” I think it means that the work of separating the heavens and the earth and the work of distinguishing water have not been completed at this stage.

The work of distinguishing water from water on the second day is completed on the third day (verse 10). The work of God on the third day was to first separate the earth into land and sea. Humans use the sea for their daily lives, but their place of life is basically on land. These separations shaped the heavens, the earth, and the sea. And God declared here the second “goodness” that was not declared in verse 8 (verse 10).

The first day was “separation of light and darkness”, the second day was “separation of heaven and earth”, and the third day was “separation of land and sea”. The second day was only the separation of heaven and earth, but the third day was not limited to the separation of land and sea, but gave birth to plants on that land. The first three works laid the foundation for the world, followed by the creation of living things. The world was created for living things, and therefore living things are created by God in the world. The creation of living things is realized through three stages: plants, animals, and humans.

God has shaped the land where humans and animals can live, and has provided plants to feed humans and animals. Verse 11 is a verbal translation of the Bible, but I think the division is clear and easy to understand. ” Let the earth grow green grass, seed-bearing grass, and fruit trees that bear seeds according to the species.　At this point (Genesis 1), it was given as human food. It was a seeded grass and a fruit tree that bears seeded fruit (Genesis 1:29). It did not kill or eat animals. It was allowed after Noah’s flood. (Genesis 9: 1-3). Also, the animals killed and did not eat. The food for the animals was green grass (Genesis 1:30).

God prepared plants as food for humans and animals, but human sin (Genesis chapter3) broke that order. But that recovery will come after the Second Coming of Jesus Christ in the Millennial Kingdom, where Christ governs this earth. At that time, the era of weak meat and strong food is over. It will be a peaceful and livable world for both humans and animals. It’s like the original Garden of Eden. It says at Isaiah 11: 6-9:

6 The wolf dwells with the lamb, the goat lies down with the goat, and the calf, the young lion, and the fat livestock are with it, and a small child follows it. 7 The cow and the bear weed together, their offspring lie down together, and the lion eats straw like a cow. 8 The suckling child plays on the hole in the cobra, and the weaned child reaches for the pit viper. 9 Nowhere in my holy mountain these do harm and do not. For knowing the Lord fills the earth like the water that covers the sea.

What a peace! Coexistence of humans and animals, coexistence of carnivores and herbivores. This is the original form of the world created by God. See also Isaiah 65: 17-25 for a depiction of the Millennial Kingdom.

17 “Behold, I will create a new heaven and a new earth. I will never remember the future, nor will I come to my heart. 18 So enjoy and rejoice in what I create forever. Behold, I am. Create Jerusalem and make it a joy and look forward to its people. 19 I rejoice in Jerusalem and enjoy my people. There are no more crying or screaming. 20 There are only a few days. There are no dead sucklings or short-lived old men. Those who die at the age of 100 are said to be young, and those who die before the age of 100 are said to be cursed. 21 They built a house and lived there. Make a vineyard and eat its fruit. 22 They build it and no one else lives, they plant it and no one else eats it. The lifespan of my people is equal to the lifespan of a tree, and I chose For he can make full use of what he has made. 23 They do not waste effort, give birth to a child, and suddenly the child does not die. They are blessed by the Lord. For he is the ancestor, and his descendants are with them. 24 Before they call, I answer, and while they are still speaking, I hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb both weed. See, the lion eats straw like a cow, and the snake feeds on dust, and everywhere in my holy mountain, they do no harm, and they do not hurt. “
