God created the angels

What kind of creature is angels? Let’s explore while looking at the passages about angels in the Bible. God created angels. Angels are the ones who reflect the glory of God. So when angels appeared to humans in a visible way, people were surprised, afraid, and prostrated before their brilliance. But angels are creatures created by God. Now let’s see what angels are like.

1) When was the angels created?

There is no description of angels creation in Genesis chapters 1 and 2. Because the angels was created before the heavens and the earth were created. The very first sentence of the Bible is that God first created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1: 1), but before that, the angels was created by God.

The Bible’s words on which it is based appear in Job 38: 7. It is written like this. At that time, the stars at dawn sang with joy, and all the children of God shouted with joy. 　The context here is the scene of Creation. It was angels, not humans, who praised the beauty of the world created by God and rejoiced in God’s creation of heaven and earth.

There are several words used to describe angels in the Bible. In most cases, it is used as it is in the Old Testament and the New Testament and is expressed as an angel, but sometimes symbolic words are used. Here the angel is described as a “star”. If you look at Revelation 1:20, you can see that the stars represent angels. About the seven stars and the seven gold candlesticks that I saw in my right hand, the secret meaning is that the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches and the seven candlesticks are the seven churches.

Since there are multiple stars in Job 38: 7, they are multiple angels. Also, depending on the context, the “child of God” may also refer to the angels. The most important thing when reading the Bible is to judge in context.　　　　

This is what Job 1: 6 says. One day, when the children of God came before the Lord and stood, Satan also came and was in it. 　The context here is a heavenly meeting, but the children of God, the angels, stood before God.

The description of angel creation can be found in Psalms 148: 2, 5.

Praise the Lord. All angels. Praise the Lord. Lord’s army (verse 2). Let them praise the name of the Lord. The Lord commanded them to be made (verse 5).

2) What kind of shape does the angels have?

Angels are spiritual beings. It is basically invisible because it does not have a physical body like humans.

Haven’t all the angels been sent to serve those who are the spirits of service and the heirs of salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)

However, when they appears in humans, they may appear in a visible form. The angel Gabriel appeared in the form of what appeared to Mary, the mother of Jesus. The angel Gabriel was sent by God to come to a virgin in the town of Nazareth in Galilee (Luke 1:26). It is a Annunciation.

By the way, angels have no gender. However, when it appears in a human-like shape, it is a man. Also, angels do not marry, perhaps because they have no gender or because they have no body.

Jesus said. “At the time of the resurrection, people are like angels of heaven, without being slaughtered or connected. ” (Matthew 22:30) However, the fallen angels (demons) married a human woman. (Genesis 6: 2). As a result, a superhuman named Nephilim (giants ) was born (Genesis 6: 4).

3) How many angels are there?　

There are a tremendous number of angels. When Jesus was captured to be crucified, he said, ” Do you think I can’t ask my father to put more angels under me now than the Twelve Armies? (Matthew 26:53). The Roman “corps” was composed of 6,000 people per corp, so there are a total of 72,000 people in 6,000 people x 12 corps. Jesus said that he could immediately call 72,000 angels.　　　　　

Revelation 5:11 says: I heard the voices of many angels around the throne, the creatures, and the elders. The number was tens of thousands and thousands of times.

Also, Hebrews 12:22 says: But you are approaching Mount Zion, the City of the Living God, Jerusalem in heaven, and the Great Celebration of Countless Angels.

Answer: There are innumerable angels.

4) Does the angels have a class?　

I don’t know the details, but it seems that angels have a class and a role.

① Cherubim (plural, singular cherub) 　Angels closest to God　　　　　　

Hezekiah prayed before the Lord. ” Lord, the God of Israel sitting on the cherubim. But you are the only God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth. ” (2 Kings 19:15)

The prophet Ezekiel also had a vision. As the glory of the Lord rose from above the cherubs to the threshold of the temple, the temple was filled with clouds and the garden was filled with the glory of the Lord. At that time, the sound of the cherubim wings was heard even in the outer garden, like the voice of Almighty God. (Ezekiel 10: 4, 5)　　

Cherubim are angels who declare the glory of God and escort the presence of God (the Holy of Holies). They also protected the Garden of Eden.

Thus God placed a cherubim and a sword of fire in a circle to the east of the Garden of Eden to expel people and protect the way to the tree of life. (Genesis 3:24)

② Seraphim (plural, singular seraph) Angels who praise God　　　　　　　　

Seraphim stood on it. They each had six wings, each covering their face with two, their feet covered with two, and flying with two, calling each other out. “Holy, holy, holy, Lord of all armies. Its glory is full of the whole earth.”(Isaiah 6: 2, 3)

Covering his face with wings may be a sign of humility.

③ Archangel angels

Michael, 　the angel of Michael, argued with the devil about Moses’ body, and when he argued, he did not dare to curse or judge the other person, but said, “Let the Lord reprove you.” .. (Judas verse 9)

Michael is an angel for battle. A battle broke out in heaven, and Michael and his angels fought the dragon. So the dragon and his messengers responded, but couldn’t win, and there was no longer a place for them in heaven. (Revelation 12: 7, 8) Michael also appears in Daniel chapter 10 of the Old Testament.

It is often said in the composition of God vs. Devil, Angel vs. Evil Spirit (Fallen Angel), but God is exceptional and does not become God vs. Devil. Archangel Michael is enough to confront the devil.

Gabriel When Gabriel appeared to Daniel, he was afraid, prostrated, unconscious, and fell to the ground (Daniel 8: 15-27). This Gabriel was sent to Mary for the Annunciation (Luke 1:26). Gabriel also appears in Zachariah, John the Baptist’s father (Luke 1:19).

④ Other angels

5) What is the work of the angels?

① Praise God

All the angels stood around the throne, the elders, and the four creatures, but they also fell down before the throne, worshiped God, and said. “Amen. May praise, glory, wisdom, gratitude, honor, power, and momentum be in our God forever. Amen.” (Revelation 7:11, 12)

The central work of the angels is in worship. When God created the heavens and earth, they praised God, the Creator, and when Jesus was born, they appeared in the shepherd, saying, “Let God have glory in the highest places. Peace on the earth. May be in the hearts of the people.”(Luke 2:14) And now, in the progressive tense, they worships God in heaven.

② Communicate the message of God

In both Hebrew and Greek, the word translated as angel means “messenger.” It was also the angels (two men in dazzling garments) who informed us of the resurrection of Jesus. ” Why do you search for the living in the dead? ” (Luke 24: 5) It was also the angel who was entrusted with the message from God that he announced the Annunciation to Mary.

③ Execute God’s plan　　

Immediately before he was crucified, he empowered Jesus, who was praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Then an angel appeared from heaven to Jesus and empowered him. Jesus finally prayed with all his suffering. Sweat fell to the ground like a drop of blood. (Luke 22:43, 44) Jesus was afraid of death and was saddened. God’s plan was for Jesus to crucify and die for the sins of mankind. Otherwise, salvation cannot be achieved. No forgiveness of sins is given to humans. Jesus knew that well. However, human Jesus suffered and wrestled in prayer. It was an angel who helped Jesus pray at that time.

④ Help Christians who believe in Jesus

Peter, who had been in prison for preaching the gospel, was rescued by an angel. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared, and the light illuminated the prison. The angel struck Peter on his side and woke him up, saying, “Hurry up.” Then the chain fell from his hand. (Acts12:7) Even now, the angels are moving around and working to help the Christians. We can expect the help and intervention of angels. In addition to Peter, the Bible contains descriptions of those who were rescued from a crisis by the intervention of angels.

⑤ Wish for the salvation of people

In the same way, if a sinner repents, joy will awaken to the angels of God. (Luke 15:10) God wants people to repent and be saved, also angels have the same feelings as God.

⑥ Perform God’s work & God’s judgment at the end

The Son of Man sends angels with the sound of a big trumpet. Then the angels gather the people of their choice from all sides, from the ends of heaven to the ends. (Matthew 24:31) Revelation chapters 8 and 9 describe angels blowing trumpets. Angels appear in a variety of situations, from God’s creation to new creation, and act as God’s agents.　　　　

⑦ Participate in the Second Coming of Jesus

When the Son of Man takes on its glory and accompanies all the angels, the Son of Man will reach its place of glory. (Matthew 25:31) The angels who were actively involved in the birth, cross, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus (Acts 1: 9-11) will naturally participate in the Second Coming of Jesus.

Answer: There are many functions, but the main ones are to worship God, convey God’s message, and carry out God’s plan on behalf of God.

6) What should I be careful about?　

The apostle John tried to worship the angel because it was so divine, but the angel said, “ Stop … worship God ” (Revelation 22: 8, 9). Angels are creatures and should not be worshiped. It is not the subject of worship. Only God, the Creator, should be worshiped.

A bad angel, a fallen angel, the devil says, “Worship me.” But a good angel never tells you to worship them. That is the big difference. A good angel wants to look at the God who sent them. They know that they are just agents of God. Their characteristic is humility. The devil’s characteristics are pride.

Answer: Angels are creatures, not objects of worship. The only one to be worshiped is God, the Creator.
