The very first sentence in the Bible

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (NIV Bible Genesis 1: 1)

Genesis Chapter 1 is not only the preface to Genesis, but also the preface to the entire Bible, and all of the Bible is written on this basis. Especially Genesis 1: 1 is the preface of the whole Bible. The Words of all Bible are based on God’s creation.

“Introduction” is the Hebrew word for “beresheet,” which means the beginning of time and space. Augustine wrote: “The world was not created in time, but was created at the same time as time. ” Time began at the same time as the Creation. But it was not the beginning of eternity. Until then, there was no concept of time, there was no time, there was time of eternity, and there was only the eternal God.

The subject “God” here is the plural “Elohim” in the original Hebrew. However, the verb “created” (“Burler” in Hebrew) is in the singular, so the God here represents that the God of the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, God the Holy Spirit).

Jesus Christ was also involved in the work of Creation. This is what John 1: 1-3 says in the Gospel of John. At the beginning, there was a Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. This person was with God in the beginning. Everything was made by this person. Nothing was made without this person. The “word” here (“Logos” in the original Greek) stands for Jesus Christ.

Also, it is written in other parts of the Bible like this. Because all things were made in the Son. What is in heaven, what is on earth, what is visible, what is invisible, the throne, sovereignty, rule, and authority are all made by and for the Son. The Son exists before all things, and all things are made up of the Son. (Epistle to the Colossians 1: 16-17)

Since the creation is from God the Father, it can be said that the work of creation was done through the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

In terms of time, John 1: 1 precedes Genesis 1: 1. The “Introduction” of Genesis is the beginning of Creation, but not the beginning of eternity. The Trinity God has existed since ancient times. Moses is praying. From before the mountains were born, before you created the earth and the world, to the truth, from eternity to eternity, you are God (Psalm 90: 2).

Such a God created something out of nothing and created all things heaven and earth. In Hebrew, “created” is the word used for “barra” and is used only when something that did not exist before is created, and something absolutely new is created. In other words, it is an act that only God can do, and it is a creation from nothing. “Burler” is a verb that is used only with God as the subject, and is an act that humans can never do. Human being just can improve what is already there, and never create a whole new thing or create from nothing.

What did God create in the beginning? It says “heaven and earth.” “Heaven” is the Hebrew word for “Shamaim.” It is also translated into the meaning of “space” or “expanded”. In the beginning God created the space. “Earth” is the Hebrew word for “eretsu”. Also translated as “material”. Therefore, the Trinity God created the natural world, such as the earth and the universe, which are visible at the beginning.

Only the theory of evolution is taught in Japan, but we need to remember that the theory of evolution is a hypothesis. The scientific community recognizes that the chances of life being born by chance are infinitely equal to zero. In a sense, this one needs greater faith.

Let’s say you have an elaborately crafted globe. Why does it exist? Can you believe that at one point something explodes and miraculous coincidences overlap and suddenly a globe appears in front of you? Rather, I think it is more theoretical to believe that the globe exists there because there was someone who made it. This is creationism.

However, in the end, creationism and the theory of evolution are both hypotheses .No one can prove. So it depends on the individual’s faith which one to believe. But please remember this , the theory of evolution is not science and creationism is not a myth, so we must not be fooled. To the end, this is a hypothesis vs. a hypothesis, a faith vs. a faith. Which one you believe in is up to you. The big problem in Japanese education is only taught the theory of evolution, which is just a hypothesis, as if it were true. I hope the day will come when both will be taught fairly and students will be able to choose which one to believe.
