God, who was said to be “good” in Genesis chapter 1, said, ” It is not good for a person to be alone .” Not good does not mean bad. It’s not finished yet. It’s just like a sea without fish, a land without animals. The man without a helper was also unfinished. So God made a woman as a helper. The Bible says:

18 The Lord God said. “It is not good for a man to be alone. I will make for him a helper worthy of him.” 19 The Lord God will form from the earth every wild beast and every bird in the sky. He was brought to a man to see what he would give it a name. All the names that he gives to living things have become their names. 20 named every livestock, every bird in the sky, every beast in the field. But no one could find a suitable helper. 21 The LORD God gave him a deep sleep, and he fell asleep. Then he took one of his ribs and blocked the meat there. 22 The Lord God made the ribs taken from man into a woman, and brought that woman to man. 23 He said. “This is now the bone from my bones, the flesh from my flesh. Let’s call this a woman, because it was taken from a man.” (Genesis 2: 18-23)

Adam named all living things (verse19, 20). Every name he gave was that name. There weren’t as many animals as it is now, so I think it didn’t take a huge amount of time. I think he just gave them names by type. The work of naming animals and the creation of women are all events on the sixth day of Creation. Adam may have felt lonely because, while naming, other animals had partners, but he didn’t.

The act of giving a name means that it belongs to you. Adam was entrusted by God to control all the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, and the things of the earth. God said. “Let’s make a man. In our image, imitate us. May they rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, the livestock, everything on the earth.” (Genesis 1:26)

That’s what Joseph, the Father of Jesus, named Jesus. He did not know her until the child was born, and named the child Jesus (Matthew 1:25). Joseph was not related to Jesus because he was confined to the womb of his mother Mary by the Holy Spirit, but by giving him a name, he welcomed Jesus as his own son. As a result, Jesus became a descendant of Joseph’s ancestor David and entered the genealogy of King David. It was as prophesied in the Old Testament.

Names are said to represent the body, but names often accurately represent the content and nature of the person. Jesus means “the Lord is salvation.” So Jesus is exactly the Savior. Adam saw the creature he named, but could not find a suitable helper (verse 20). Marriage needs some commonality.

God put a deep sleep on Adam so that he would not have to find a helper himself (verse 21). Through sleeping, that is, by surrendering the worries of marriage to God, God will bring to you the man(the woman) who is building up for you elsewhere at God’s timing, at the best time(verse 22). Probably you may think that my marriage dream is dead. But when you surrender to God, live on the cross, and bury your marriage in a grave, you will experience a resurrection. I believe that your marriage dream will come true. The woman is “Isha” in Hebrew and the man is “Ish”. Therefore, the sentence “Let’s call this a woman, because it was taken from a man (verse 23)” is also a play on the Hebrew word.

God has decided that marriage should be for men and women. Same-sex marriage is not part of God’s plan, but it is possible to spend a lifetime single. That was the apostle Paul. Being single alone does not mean that it is imperfect. Singleness is a gift from God to focus only on God and serve only God. If you are confident that you are being single, you do not need to get married. Marriage is a wonderful blessing of God, but singleness is also a gift from a wonderful God.
